Super Mud polymer slurry drilling fluid is designed to be used in place of bentonite or as an additive to a bentonite drilling fluid. Super Mud is environmentally safe and it can be disposed off easily with household bleach (5% Sodium Hypochlorite solution) or 3% Hydrogen Peroxide.
High Yield is a Polymer Extended Sodium Bentonite drilling gel which yields 200 barrels of fluid per ton. High Yield has been used successfully as a principal drilling fluid or in conjunction with Super Mud.
(Tech Sheet for combination Super Mud & High Yield)
Mixing Procedure
- Pretreat makeup water with Water Treat, a pH conditioner, to a pH range of 8-10. Normally, 1 lb to 200 gallons of makeup water is sufficient for freshwater.
- High Yield can be sifted into the mixer and circulated with a pump several times until hydration has occurred. Slowly pour a pencil sized stream of Super Mud into the mixer or most turbulent point of the water.
- Light silty soil, some clay, and clayed sand
Mixing ratio is 1 quart Super Mud to 300 gallons of pretreated water with a pH 8-10.
Sand (fine to medium), gravel pockets, and loose filled areas
Mixing ratio is 50 lbs of High Yield and 1 quart of Super Mud to 300 gallons of pretreated water with a pH 8-10.
NOTE: The yield and performance of polymers vary and they do not pose the environmental protection features found in Super Mud. Super Mud equals or exceeds the yield and performance of all polymers currently available. Similarly, all bentonite are not the same. In directional drilling applications, we recommend the use of High Yield bentonite because it is a superior bentonite that is rated as an API 200 barrel drilling gel. |
